What the test measures
TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) and the thyroid hormones T3 and T4.

- Known autoimmune disease, as a screening or follow-up test

Understanding the result
A high TSH usually means an underactive thyroid; a low TSH an overactive one. Your doctor will decide whether treatment is needed.
